Some interesting news to report relating to a young player who has emerged this season as a very exciting prospect for the Leafs, Sarnia Sting forward Ty Voit, who was selected by the Buds in the 5th round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Voit currently leads the OHL in scoring, with the league's 2nd-leading scorer currently sitting 11 points behind Voit. Simply put, Voit has been on a heater and nobody currently in the OHL can touch him in terms of the way he has been able to take over games.

In a pretty shocking turn of events, Voit has been left off the list of players who received an invite to Team USA's World Junior Championship camp. It's wild to think that if you removed all of Voit's secondary assists, he would still be leading the OHL in assists. How Team USA could leave a guy like that off the list is really quite surprising.

Over the weekend, Daily Faceoff's Steven Ellis unveiled his projections for Team USA's 2023 WJC roster. Not only was Voit on his radar, but Ellis had cast Voit in a third line role, along with current Sarnia Sting teammate Sasha Pastujov. Ellis also called Voit "perhaps the most exciting name" available to Team USA. It's truly remarkable that he was not selected or even invited to camp. As it turns out, Pastujov did not receive an invite either.

Voit has notched an incredible 48 points in 27 games for the Sting so far this sesaon.
