Forward Calle Jarnkrok missed Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens after suffering an undisclosed injury in their overtime loss to the Boston Bruins last week. The 31-year-old forward was absent from Sunday's practice as well, but Sheldon Keefe mentioned that his MRI came back clean and he'd join the team on their upcoming road trip.
Janrkrok has technically had a career-season with 19 goals and 37 points in 71 games. He suffered a groin injury in December that forced him to miss 3 weeks of the season. He was playing relatively well with 14 points in a 13-game stretch before and after the injury but since mid-January he has scored 10 goals and 17 points in his last 37 games.
As for Matt Murray, his status remains the same. He won't be dressing or playing in Monday's game against the Florida Panthers. Ilya Samsonov will get his 40th start of the season but the backup situation will be the same as Saturday's game - up in the air.
It's up in the air mostly because of the Matthew Knies signing and the cap related crunch that has caused. Matt Murray can't be placed on the LTIR to alleviate cap space either because he was injured with less than 10 games remaining on the season.
Joseph Woll has not yet been recalled on an emergency basis by the team, per CapFriendly, and the Leafs have just $3,750 in available cap space, so it's entirely possible that they go the route of using an EBUG as a backup yet again if Matt Murray is not cleared to return to play behind Ilya Samsonov.
