The 2021-2022 season didn't end as all of Leafs Nation had hoped, but this time, it was a much more of a battle than we're accustomed to. The Toronto Maple Leafs lost in 7 games to the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are coming off of back-to-back Stanley Cup wins.

After 6 straight first-round exits, some may be voicing their opinions for change when it comes to the roster, coaching, or management. However, the ones truly calling the shots, the MLSE Board of Directors, definitely see it another way. This is good news for all of Leafs Nation.

Elliotte Friedman, appearing on The Fan 590 this morning, notes that Kyle Dubas will be back next season and there is no concern for his contract status. Friedman also says an early extension could be coming for Dubas, further cementing the faith MLSE brass has in their fairly young GM.

This is excellent news as we are just now seeing his draft classes beginning to bear fruit. Since Lou Lamoriello and Mark Hunter botched at least two Leafs drafts, Dubas has done an excellent job with re-stocking the cupboards with some excellent prospects that will help the team moving forward.
