The Toronto Maple Leafs have played two of their eight pre-season games, dropping both outings against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday and Monday in a couple of close decisions. Now, 0-2 on the pre-season, the Leafs have begun trimming down the roster.

The Leafs started camp with 3 different groups and, as of today, are now officially down to two groups. Group One is comprised mostly of players who are likely to be cut this week, while Group Two features the primary opening night roster and a handful of hopefuls.

The Buds will take on the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday evening and have officially named their roster, comprised of some members from Group One, such as Fraser Minten, Roni Hirvonen, Kyle Clifford and Pontus Holmberg, and a large contingent of players from Group Two, including Max Domi, John Tavares, William Nylander, Matthew Knies, Jake McCabe, John Klingberg and, to everyone's surprise, rookie forward Easton Cowan. You can see the full game roster below:

With tomorrow's game against the Sabres being the Leafs' 3rd game of 8 pre-season games, they're likely to begin the next wave of cuts this week, as we lead into the final week of training camp next week with camps set to conclude on Saturday October 7th and the 2023-24 regular season commencing on Tuesday October 10th.

The Leafs officially open their season at home against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, October 11th.
