With Sheldon Keefe trusting him enough to leave him and the rest of the line out there, Knies took a pass from Auston Matthews off the half wall before driving to the net. Knies lost the handle for a split second but was able to spin and tuck a backhand past Sergei Bobrovsky.
Knies was asked about his first NHL following the Game 1 loss. "It's a surreal feeling, especially in the playoffs, in the home arena. Having Auston pass that to me, it was only fitting and just happy I could get one there."
Knies has looked better and better the more he has played and has seemingly solidified his spot on the top line with fellow Arizona product Auston Matthews and the slick-skating William Nylander.
