After Auston Matthews missed Thursday's game with an illness, Pontus Holmberg and the recently recalled Bobby McMann missed Saturday's tilt with the Bruins due to an unspecified illness. Not to speculate, but it would seem that a bit of a flu bug went through part of the Leafs' locker room.

McMann returned to practice today in a regular jersey, meaning that we could see Wayne Simmonds or Dryden Hunt scratched. McMann does not have a point in his short stint with the Leafs so far, but has not been shy in throwing his weight around and has displayed his skating and puck retrieval abilities admirably. He also came to within an inch or two of scoring his 1st career NHL goal in just his 2nd career NHL game. Unfortunately, due to having kicked the puck and not getting his stick on it, the goal was called back against the Wings.

As for Holmberg, it would appear he is still battling the illness as he was not seen taking part in the development session before practice. The Leafs, no doubt, are looking forward to getting the rookie center back into the lineup ASAP.
