Timmins started the season on LTIR. MRI results revealed the injury wasn't as bad as it could have been, but his status has been uncertain ever since. Finally, the day before the Leafs depart for Sweden, following back to back wins over the Flames and Canucks, Sheldon Keefe provided an update.
Timmins is ahead of schedule in his recovery. In fact, he will travel with the Leafs on their Global Series adventure. Keefe promised to provide a clearer picture of his status sometime this week, but it sounds like Timmins, who was a full participant at practice today, may be in the lineup sooner than later, perhaps even on this Sweden trip!
If Timmins is able to step in and fill the void left by Timothy Liljegren's absence, it will be a huge boost for the Leafs. Injuries have been a major issue for Timmins, which is part of the reason the Leafs were able to acquire him for career AHLer Curtis Douglas. I believe there's still a talented hockey player there. He just needs to get healthy and stay healthy enough to show it to us.
