Leafs sign emergency goalie for tonight's game
With Matt Murray injured and the Leafs assigning Joseph Woll to the Marlies to free up cap space to sign Matthew Knies following the conclusion of the NCAA championship tonight, they were going to be forced to play without a backup goalie. However, some shrewd cap gymnastics by Leafs Assistant GM Brandon Pridham has enabled them to sign the usual EBUG for their home games to an amateur tryout contract for tonight's game.
Jett Alexander plays for the University of Toronto Blues and has been seen at practice with the Leafs before. He was also called upon last season when the Leafs took on Colorado and the Avs had both of their goalies get injured.
In 28 games for UofT this season Alexander went 15-12 with .925 save percentage and 2.02 GAA.
