Last night, the Leafs fell to the Seattle Kraken by a score of 5-1 at home in Toronto. It wasn't all bad for one Leafs forward though, as superstar winger Mitch Marner was selected to the All-Star game as the Leafs' first and possibly only representative. It's just his second time being selected.

Marner has 44 points in 39 games so far with the Leafs, while collecting a point in 23 straight games earlier this season. Those 23 games set a new franchise record, smashing the record of 18 that was jointly held by Darryl Sittler and Ed Olczyk.

However, and it may have had something to do with the loss last night, but when asked about getting the nod to the All-Star game Marner downplayed it, saying, "It's a cool accomplishment. It would not have happened without a lot of guys in this room, or everyone in this room. It's not a one-man thing out there. It's all five guys. I got to thank my teammates."

Like he did during his point streak, Marner gave credit to the rest of the team because he would not have had the success he's had without someone setting him up or finishing his passes. Marner could yet be joined by at least one other Leaf, perhaps Auston Matthews, in Florida for All-Star weekend if the fan vote goes his way.
