Leafs superstar carjacked at gunpoint
Less than 48 hours after the Mitch Marner and the Leafs were eliminated in a deciding Game 7 by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Mitch Marner was carjacked outside the Cineplex Theatre Queensway. He and a friend were in the parking lot at 7:46PM Monday night when the incident occured.
Three suspects, two armed with guns and one with a knife, approached Marner and a friend and demanded he hand over the keys to his Range Rover. Marner handed them over and the suspects fled in the SUV. Marner was not injured during the incident.
As of this writing, there are no further details available to us. Toronto Police Service has asked both Marner and the team not to comment any further, as there is still an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Marner reportedly "shaken up" by the encounter, and understandably so. According to a witness who was on the scene, Marner "doing all right" now. Our best wishes go out to Marner and his friend. Toronto Police Service is asking anyone who witnessed the crime or with information on the suspects to contact them.
