Listen, the Toronto Arenas are a part of the team's history like the St Pats. I get it, it's a cool idea. But the jersey is basic and honestly, not very esthetically appealing.
The Reverse Retro from last season was a miss as well, a throwback to the Sittler era, but with gray.. Why? Not to mention the absolutely unreadable numbers that made watching the games a nightmare.
There's only one jersey that should be brought back as a third jersey for this team. The one they wore the last time they won a playoff series, and the last time they won the Stanley Cup. When you think of names like Gary Roberts, Mats Sundin, Darcy Tucker or Curtis Joseph, you picture them in this jersey.
This was the best looking jersey they Leafs ever used. Period. It also fits the Heritage theme as it was a throwback to the Leafs 1966-67 home jerseys. The fact that we haven't seen some variation of this gorgeous jersey on the ice in over a decade is a crime against Leafs fans the likes of which we haven't seen since Harold Ballard owned the franchise. Update it, tweak if needed, but for the love of all things blue and white, bring it back.
