Over the past few playoff series against the Leafs, Jon Cooper has not so subtly thrown things out during his media availabilities. From discussing officiating to taking credit away from the Leafs after a win, Cooper has found a way to manipulate the following game or games with his comments to the media.

Yesterday, Cooper was on TSN 1050's OverDrive and finally admitted to using the media to help his team gain an advantage.

"Playoffs is a little bit different. You're playing against a team in a 7-game series and there's been times in my career where if I needed to get something through, I selectively do it through the media. It's definitely happened in the playoffs but not in the season."

I'm sure it's not the first time that a coach has used the media to their benefit, but I can't recall a time where a coach has openly admitted to doing it. In the case of Cooper, who has played this card a number of times against the Leafs over the past few playoffs runs, we know that he is very cerebral, so the fact that he admitted this just a day before the Bolts play the Leafs, is it just more mind games? Or did he just give the Leafs a bit of an edge should these two Atlantic Division clubs meet in the playoffs again?
