After a very eventful Canadian long weekend that saw a myriad of players being placed on waivers by almost every team in the NHL, today's list is rather tame in comparison, limited to just 3 names - two of which are linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs have placed forward Bobby McMann on waivers, the Los Angeles Kings have placed goaltender David Rittich on waivers, and the Tampa Bay Lightning have placed Andre Barre-Boulet on waivers. There was only one player waived on Monday, and the Anaheim Ducks have claimed him. I am, of course, talking about now ex-Islanders forward, Ross Johnston.

Onto today's trio of waiver placements. First eligible to be drafted in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, McMann went undrafted and ended up spending the majority of playing days in the ECAC - East Collegiate Athletic Conference. He worked extremely hard and by the end of his 4-year tenure with Colgate University, he was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award in 2019-20.

He signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Marlies shortly afterwards and split his 2020-21 season between Wichita of the ECHL and the Marlies. In 2021-22 he appeared in 61 games for the Marlies, where he scored 24 goals, he then played in 10 games for the Maple Leafs this past season with an assist, but also piled up 29 points in 30 games in the AHL for the Marlies.

The 31-year-old Rittich was traded by the Calgary Flames in April of 2021 to the Maple Leafs for a third round pick in 2022. He only appeared in 4 games before becoming a healthy scratch in the post-season. He walked as a free agent and signed a one-year deal with the Nashville Predators. The following 2 seasons he ended up signing separate one-year deals with the Winnipeg Jets (2022) and most recently with the Kings (2023).

Alex Barre-Boulet is a surprise name to see on the waiver wire after successful AHL career with the Syracuse Crunch. The undrafted centre recorded 68 points in 74 games in 2018-19, 56 points in 60 games in 2019-20, 63 points in 58 games in 2021-22, and 84 points in 69 games this past season. Surprisingly enough, he was placed on waivers in October of 2021 by the Lightning and was claimed by the Seattle Kraken. He was reclaimed the very next day by the Lightning after the Kraken placed him back on waivers.
