The Leafs had announced on Monday that 19-year-old Fraser Minten has made the team out of training camp, which is an excellent story. As far as where he'll play, Keefe has him beginning the season with Matthew Knies on his left flank and veteran Calle Jarnkrok on his right.
The roster is pretty decked out from top to bottom and, minus Conor Timmins, the Buds will have all hands on deck. Here's how the lines shaped up at practice today:
Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner Domi-Tavares-Nylander Knies-Minten-Jarnkrok Gregor-Kampf-Reaves
Extra: McMann-Cowan
Rielly-Brodie McCabe-Klingberg Giordano-Liljegren
Samsonov Woll
The Leafs have yet to officially sign Noah Gregor to an NHL contract, following what can only be described as a successful PTO, resulting in the Leafs opting to trade Sam Lafferty to keep a spot open for Gregor, who formed a sensational 4th line in camp, consisting of Gregor, David Kampf and newcomer Ryan Reaves.
Both Ilya Samsonov and Joseph Woll left a lot to be desired in their performances at training camp, so it will be important for both netminders to clean up their games in the early going to avoid any sort of early goaltending controversy.
All of Reaves, Klingberg, Domi and Bertuzzi are preparing to be in the lineup, as expected. Buckle up, folks. The fun begins for Leaf fans tomorrow night!
