Brad Marchand underwent successful hip surgery over the off-season. It's a surgery that has become common among NHLers lately as Nikita Kucherov, Tyler Seguin and Sean Monahan are just a few of the other players that have had it done in recent years. When Marchand had the surgery, doctors told him it would be the end of November by the time he would be able to return.

As he has done his entire career, Marchand wanted to prove them wrong. "They told me it was going to be end of November. I was like, it's not going to be the end of November," said Marchand after it was confirmed he would be making his season debut tonight.

Coming off of a shortened, 70-game season, thanks to his injury, Marchand put up 32 goals and 80 points for the Bruins and another 11 points in 7 playoff games. The Bruins are off to a surprisingly hot start at 6-1-0 after 7 games without three of their top six defensemen or Marchand. With Marchy returning, the Bruins' already high-powered offense will be even more dangerous as will their powerplay as the top unit of Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak will be reunited.

One thing to note - the Bruins have already confirmed that they have no intention of playing Marchand in back-to-back scenarios until further notice, meaning that he'll play Thursday against the Red Wings, but miss Friday's game vs Columbus.
