Martin Brodeur re-signs with the New Jersey Devils, takes on new position with the club
After a lot of speculation that Hall-of-Famer Martin Brodeur could move on from the New Jersey Devils at the end of his contract, he and the Devils put that speculation to rest on Thursday with the announcement that Brodeur has not only been extended, but promoted within the organization. Brodeur will now act as the Executive VP of Hockey Operations.
Formerly listed as a Hockey Operations Adviser, Brodeur has enjoyed his time working under EVP/GM Tom Fitzgerald as he learned the ropes as an executive. For him, the decision to remain with the Devils and transition into his new role was an easy decision. Brodeur issued the following statement on his promotion and extension:
"Working with Tom's group for the past few years, I have seen firsthand what he and our Managing Partners, David Blitzer and Josh Harris are building. I've been fortunate to help them in that time, as we move in the right direction toward consistent, sustained success. This decision allows me to commit all my time to the hockey side and focus on achieving the ultimate goal for our players, tremendous fans and entire organization."

Not only did he win 3 Cups with the team, but he also won 4 Vezina Trophies and holds a bevy of NHL records, including most saves, most career minutes played, most shutouts, most games played and most wins, among several others.
