After a couple weeks of speculation and negotiations, Martin St. Louis officially inked a new, 3-year contract to be the Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens. St. Louis was brought in midway through the disastrous season, taking over for Domenic Ducharme.

Under St. Louis, the Habs went 14-19-4, which still isn't great, but the team, and specifically it's young players like Cole Caufield thrived under St. Louis. Before St. Louis took over behind the bench, Caufield had 1 goal and 8 points in 20 games before being sent down to the AHL. Once being recalled and playing under St. Louis however, his production sky rocketed. He tallied 22 goals and 35 points in 37 games under the former PeeWee hockey coach.

It was a no-brainer for the Habs to bring St. Louis back, although they did have some competition as St. Louis revealed in his press conference yesterday. The competition, none other than his son's Bantam team, who is still trying to fill his former head coaching position.
