Over his last 7 starts (including last night), Matt Murray is 3-3-0 and in the games he has lost, he has given up 4 goals or more. That also includes the 4 goals on 8 shots that he gave up last night against Florida. Thankfully, the Leafs were able to outscore their goaltending issues last night and Ilya Samsonov was fantastic in relief of Murray, drawing into the game just two minutes into the second period.

Following the game, Murray was very blunt in assessing his own play saying, "I just have to be better. That's the bottom line. If I come up with a couple of those, it's a much different game." The 'couple' he is talking about are likely the first and third goals - both of which were scored off of broken plays.

While he was blunt in describing his own play, Murray did not forget to praise Samsonov after he came in just a couple of minutes into the second saying, "I thought Sammy did a great job for us coming in cold." Samsonov made a couple of key saves for the Leafs to keep them in the game and give them a chance at a comeback. He stopped all 11 shots he faced in relief of Murray and we will likely see him get the start Thursday night against the Jets.
