Today on Leafs Morning Take, Knies joined former Leaf Jay Rosehill and Nick Alberga to discuss a variety of things including his injury and recovery. Rosehill kicked off the interview by congratulating him on joining the Leafs before diving right in an asking how he was doing with his recovery.
"All good, no symptoms, back to working out. Slowly getting back into the swing of things. I'm trying to become more mobile and flexible before I get into the harder training," said Knies in response to Rosehill's question about his concussion. That's good news for Knies, the Leafs and Leaf fans as Knies will be ready for training camp and even said he plans to show up to Toronto ahead of everyone else to adjust to how the Leafs want him to train and skate and get more comfortable with their systems. "Hope to be out there at the beginning of August," commented Knies.
In his short stint with the Leafs this past season, Knies brought an element to the Leafs' top six that they have been lacking for years; a physical, big body with skill that can create space and win board battles to support the likes of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander. He should have a spot in the top six heading into camp depending on what the Leafs do in free agency.
