During the second period of the Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames game on Saturday night, two true heavyweights of hockey dropped the gloves and put on a display for fans with the now somewhat scarce art of fighting in the NHL.

The Avalanche were up 3-0 late in the second period from goals by Nathan MacKinnon, Alex Newhook, and Mikko Rantanen when Flames forward, Milan Lucic and Avalanche defenseman, Kurtis MacDermid were taking part in a heated exchange of words sandwiched in between a few referees.

Lucic got loose and the referees let them go toe-to-toe, and they did not disappoint. Kurtis MacDermid stands at 6'5 and 233 lbs verus Milan Lucic who is 6'3 and 240 lbs. MacDermid landed a few early shots before Lucic finished off the bout with a clean shot to the jaw and subsequently dropped him to the ice before the referees jumped in and stopped the fight.

The fight represented the third time Lucic had dropped the gloves this year compared to MacDermid's 5 majors.
