Flames forward Milan Lucic gave Treliving a lot of credit for the work he was able to accomplish this summer on a recent radio appearance, likening the situation to Tiger Woods shanking a shot off the tee and somehow winding up with a birdie on the hole. That's not the only interesting comment Lucic made. The other was directed at friend and former teammate Johnny Hockey.
Lucic was asked during the interview whether or not he'll be looking for Gaudreau with his head down this season when the Flames play the Blue Jackets. Lucic admitted pretty openly that he's always trying to take a number on the opposing team's best players and that he won't hesitate to lay Gaudreau out if he gets the opportunity. He even extended his response to include Tkachuk, who also chose to leave this summer.
With the Flames and Blue Jackets playing in separate conferences, Lucic won't have many opportunities to find Gaudreau on the ice however. The Jackets and Flames play each other just twice this season, with the first meeting taking place in Columbus on December 9th. The second meeting takes place in Calgary on January 23rd.
Lucic and the Flames will square off against the Panthers twice as well, both times in November. The first matchup against Tkachuk will occur on November 19th in Florida and the second game is slated for less than 2 weeks later, on November 29th in Calgary.
