Now, I don't want this to come off as a shot at Bryce, his brother or the Blazers. The simple fact is that the younger Minten brother's stat line doesn't exactly jump off the page. Minten put up 4 goals and 9 assists for 13 points in 26 games last season with Shawingan Lake School's U18 prep team. If he's anything like his brother, those stats come with a relentless work ethic and a grinding physical game. According to Blazers head coach and GM Shaun Clouston, the younger Minten earned his spot on the roster thanks to a strong showing at training camp.
Bryce is expected to dress this weekend against the Kelowna Rockets. It will be interesting to see whether the brothers get to share ice time. It will also be interesting to see if Bryce can be as effective at the CHL level as his older brother. Who knows? He may even manage to find himself a spot in the Leafs organization if it goes well and the stars align at the draft next summer.
