With a 10 day break in the NHL schedule, eyes around the league turn to the All-Star Game. With Auston Matthews sidelined due to a sprained knee and William Nylander being snubbed multiple times, Mitch Marner will be the Leafs' sole representative when the festivities kick off in Sunrise, Florida.

Players will not only compete in a 3 on 3 tournament but will also compete in a series of skills competitions. Marner's slick hands and creativity have earned him a spot in what will likely be the most watched event, the Breakaway Challenge. Players will have a chance to go one on one with celebrity goaltender and Hockey Hall of Famer Roberto Luongo. Also competing in the Breakaway Challenge will be Matthew Tkachuk, David Pastrnak, and, interestingly, the duo of Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.

The Skills Competition will be held on February 3rd with the All Star Gake to follow on Saturday, February 4th. Other events included in the competition include the Tendy Tandem, a new event that will have goalies showcase both their ability to play the puck and stop it, the Splash Shot, a test of accuracy with a chance to release a yet to be revealed victim (fingers crossed for Gary Bettman) into a dunk tank, and the Pitch an' Puck, essentially a game of golf with sticks and picks replacing the usual club and ball.

It seems that the NHL thought that it would be too cruel to have a member of the Leafs playing golf at the All-Star game. The jokes would have written themselves on that one!
