Yesterday, following the festivities, a Leafs social media team member challenged Marner to use a very Floridian word as many times as he could in his interviews. The word Marner had to use was "gator" and he was surprisingly very good at working the word into his responses, making it sound pretty natural.
At one point he said he really enjoyed his time in Florida but was "disappointed he didn't see any gators, and there are no gators in Toronto. maybe I'll have to dress Zeus (his dog) up as one." As talented as he is on the ice Marner was able to work the word in almost a dozen times without making it overly obvious, having a laugh with the Leafs' social media team about it after.
Marner will now head back to Toronto to enjoy a few days off as the Leafs now begin their bye week before playing a back-to-back against Columbus on the weekend.
