The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Nick Ritchie to a 2-year deal in the summer of 2021, hoping that they would be able to unlock some of the potential that a former 10th overall pick should have. Unfortunately, thinks didn't work out for the Leafs or Ritchie as he was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes midway through the first year of his deal. Ritchie played most of last season with the Coyotes before being traded to the Calgary Flames.

Ritchie was unable to secure a contract for this season, and after months of waiting for an opportunity, he signed a contract with Karpat in Liiga (Finnish Elite League). Last night, Ritchie and Karpat were taking on TPS Turku when Ritchie lost his temper following a puck battle with Markus Nurmi.

The two were battling for a puck before Ritchie grabbed Nurmi's neck and pushed him to the ice where he went on to deliver a series of punches before officials finally separated the pair. Ritchie was given a major and game misconduct for roughing and is currently awaiting word on the length of his suspension.

Since signing with Karpat, Ritchie had 1 goal and 5 points in 10 games and had a whopping 70 penalty minutes. In 8 seasons in the NHL, Ritchie skated in 481 games, had 483 penalty minutes and 186 points.
