NHL employee promises a very ''unique'' 2023 All Star Game; spoiler alert, there will be live alligators involved
As we know, the NHL is taking the All-Star Game to South Florida in 2023 and just like Vegas used the strip as the scene for one of their skills events, so too will Florida use an outside the box location as a way of spinning their skills event into something of their own.
The NHL's "Chief Content Officer", Steve Meyer, joined Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman for a segment of the 32 Thoughts Podcast this week, revealing that they will not only have one of their skills events take place on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, but they're also planning to integrate the use of live alligators into the show.
"In Florida, we're literally taking over the beach in Fort Lauderdale. We're gonna do concerts, fan fare, all on the sand, and we're gonna bring back the outside events we had in Vegas. We've got a couple of extremely unique ideas.
One is a work in progress, and if we pull it off I think our fans will talk about it for a long time. It involves something that's very Florida, an animal
Put it this way. I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate alligators into our outside event. And we're getting there. I don't wanna get into the details."
Hockey players and live alligators. What could possibly go wrong??
There have been no additional details released thus far, but colour me intrigued. All-Star weekend in the NHL is a mixed bag and the NHL fanbase has a bit of a love/hate relationship with the event. Hopefully the league has something truly fun and unique in store for us in early 2023.
