In the case of pending UFA Nazem Kadri, it seems he will have multiple suitors bidding on his services for next season and beyond. He may have priced himself out of Colorado, as the Avs will soon have to find cap space for Nathan MacKinnon and Bowen Byram.
Per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Kadri's main potential suitors at this point are the Senators, Rangers, Kraken and Capitals, but the Avs are still very much hanging around.
They'll have to either move out another contract or let Kadri walk if they want to retain both of their superstar players. In the salary cap era, it's exceedingly difficult to run back the same team more than once, especially a Stanley Cup winning roster. I'm sure Avs GM Joe Sakic is happy to have these problems as long as he's got his new Stanley Cup ring.
So far, the other teams that are rumoured to be interested in Kadri are the Sens, Rangers, Kraken and Capitals. If they want Kadri, they'll have to shell out some serious cash, his asking price is said to be north of 8.5 million per season on a long term deal. He's definitely worth the money now, but on a long term deal, one has to wonder how his body will hold up as he approaches his mid-thirties.
