With $7M in cap space and a list of injuries that never seems to get smaller, the Leafs have been rumoured to be in the trade market. They're reportedly looking for not just a defenseman, but quite possibly a middle-six or top-six forward as well.

Given the fact that the Leafs are in the trade market, the staggering number of NHL teams who had scouts representing them at tonight's game against the Kings is evidence that things could be heating up on the trade front in Toronto. The list of teams with scouts at the Kings/Leafs game are:

NYR, SJ (2), VGK, CGY, ANA, STL, BOS, NAS, DAL, MTL, WAS, NJ, TB, OTT, CAR, WPG, EDM, COL, PIT

A total of approximately 19 different teams have scouts at the game tonight. It is worth noting that some of these teams have upcoming games against the Leafs and could simply be scouting them for that reason. Those teams are the Ducks, Rangers and Capitals. Regardless, that is an oddly high number of teams being represented at a game between a pair of playoff teams, since neither club is expected to be a deadline seller.
