Only two games into the Toronto Marlies' regular season, Nick Roberston suffered an injury that sidelined him for over 10 weeks. In an initially harmless play, Robertson took a hit along the boards, falling awkwardly and fracturing his right fibula.

Despite being drafted at 53rd overall, Robertson has been touted as a first-round talent. In his last year in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes, he amassed 86 points in just 46 games. Alongside his point production, Roberston is known for being relentless on the forecheck, despite his lack of size. However this style of play has contributed to a history of injuries, and at this time, Robertson has only played 35 professional games in 3 years.

After enduring six weeks in a hard cast, four more in physical therapy, and another week in practice getting back up to game speed, it's safe to say the Nick Robertson the Leafs remember is back. In his second game back from injury, he potted two goals and spoke about his desire to be called up to the Leafs.

«First of all, I want to play all the games. That's my biggest goal is to be healthy.» Roberston explained to Nick Barden of The Leafs Nation, "I want to be as consistent as possible these next games and produce and do everything I can to get to the NHL or open up the opportunity for myself.»

Leafs fans and management alike will be watching Robertson closely these next few weeks as he makes his case for being called up. His youth, tenacity, and scoring touch could prove a useful depth option for the Leafs through the rest of the season and into the playoffs.
