With the Nazem Kadri deal finally going down, it's a reasonable expectation that GMs who had potential interest can get back to work on putting the finishing touches on their respective rosters.

While there were no reputable reports linking Nazem Kadri to the Chicago Blackhawks or the Edmonton Oilers, it's probably a complete coincidence that TSN's Gene Principe reported that the Oilers have zeroed in on Patrick Kane as their primary target this summer.

Reports of Kane to the Oilers are not exactly new, but prior to Thursday, most of the reports were purely speculative and had been debunked by verified insiders. Principe revealed on Oilers Now to Bob Stauffer that the Oilers have laid out a plan to try to land Patrick Kane and if they cannot do so, Phil Kessel is "plan two".

The Oilers are doing anything and everything they can to load up for another deep run this year. Adding Patrick Kane would certainly be loading up, as a player of Kane's caliber could certainly help either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl reach another level - if that's even possible.
