Prior to Thursday's game against the Panthers in Florida, anthem singer Ryan Michael James botched the words to and tune of the Canadian National Anthem. At the time, social media was abuzz as he posted a shirtless selfie an hour before the game on Instagram with the caption «still trying to learn the words to O'Canada». Safe to say that was not the best idea.

Friday morning, he joined KISS 92.5's the Roz and Mocha Show, which is one of the most popular morning shows in Toronto, to explain what happened. "I found out two hours before that I was actually going on. I had two hours to learn the national anthem for Canada, of which I was not familiar with before doing the gig," James said.

James also explained that he was told the words would be on the jumbotron, but they were not. "Canada I am so sorry for flubbing the lyrics," an apologetic James said. "I promise it was not intentional."

The Leafs were not phased, as they shouldn't be by a botched anthem, and dominated the Panthers in a 6-2 win. The Leafs had a day off yesterday before ending their road trip with back-to-back games this weekend against Carolina and Nashville.
