Elliotte Friedman is reporting this morning that over the last 24 hours, the Rangers have ensured they have checked every box in terms of finding a team to retain salary, that Kane is willing to waive his no-trade clause and that they will have an adequate roster once the trade is complete. After reports that had Dallas as the front-runner it would seem that it is a foregone conclusion that Kane will be in a Rangers jersey by the end of the weekend.
Since initial trade discussions with the Rangers floundered, Kane has been on a tear, registering 7 goals and 10 points over his last 4 games. Once the trade is completed, the Rangers will surely become the Stanley Cup favourite and have two of, if not the best top two lines in the league. It also gives them a chance to reunite him and Artemi Panerin which is likely to happen as they both had their most productive seasons playing with each other in Chicago.
