On Tuesday in Detroit, Arizona Coyotes winger Phil Kessel took just one shift to keep his ironman streak intact before hopping on a chartered flight back to Arizona to be home for the birth of his first child.

Many had wondered whether Kessel's ironman streak would end on Thursday, with the Coyotes in Toronto to take on his former Toronto Maple Leafs. Today, we got our answer.

According to Craig Morgan of The NHL Network, Kessel is indeed en route to Toronto to meet up with the Coyotes for Thursday's game at Scotiabank Arena. Kessel will join a bevy of former Leafs, including Nick Ritchie, Alex Galchenyuk, Travis Boyd, Anton Strahlman and Riley Nash to play against their former club.

Kessel, 34, has played in all 56 games for the Coyotes this season, and 956 consecutive games sitting only behind Doug Jarvis and current recordholder Keith Yandle on the all-time ironman list.

The Madison, WI native has notched 6 goals and 28 assists for 34 points in his 56 games with the Yotes this season.
