This offseason, many fans in Toronto felt Sam Gagner could be a replacement for Jason Spezza as the Leafs fourth line centremen. As we found out today, that will not be the case. The 33-year-old has signed a one year deal in Winnipeg worth $750,000.

Gagner was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers, sixth overall, in the 2007 NHL entry draft. After playing the first seven years of his NHL career in Edmonton, he turned into a bit of a journeymen. Since the 2014-15 season, Gagner has played for six different NHL teams (Arizona, Philadelphia, Columbus, Vancouver, Edmonton and Detroit).

Last season, Gagner produced 31 points (13 goals & 18 assists) for the Red Wings. His career high in points came back in the 2016-17 season when he tallied 50 (18 goals & 32 assists) in 81 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets. His biggest claim to fame, however, is an eight point game (4 goals & 4 assists) he had on February 2nd, 2012, while playing for the Edmonton Oilers.
