Per reports coming out of Chicago, it has been confirmed that a Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Champion has passed away. According to the Daily Herald, Stanley Cup winner and Chicago Blackhawks all-time leading goal scorer Bobby Hull died this morning mere weeks after celebrating his 84th birthday.

Hull won a Stanley Cup with the Hawks back in 1961 and went on to win a pair of WHA Championships with the Winnipeg Jets in 1976 and 1978. Hull recorded 30 or more goals in 13 consecutive seasons in the NHL before departing for the WHA on the promise of a $1M contract back in 1972.

Hull is the NHL's 18th leading goal scorer all-time with an incredible 610 career NHL goals. He also won himself a pair of Hart Memorial Trophies as the league's MVP in 1964-65 and 1965-66. He also added a trio of Art Ross Trophies in 1959-60, 1961-62 and 1965-66.

The Point Anne, ON native amassed 1,170 career NHL points in 1,063 career NHL games and added 638 points in 411 career WHA games.

He was often surrounded by controversy and had some very wild opinions. His actions and comments off the ice unfortunately left a bit of a dark cloud hovering over him. Hull had largely denied many of the claims and quotes that he was credited for, but nevertheless, someone was lost and our condolences go out to Bobby's family, friends, the Chicago Blackhawks and former Winnipeg Jets (now Arizona Coyotes) organizations.
