Domi's cap hit without any retention is only $3 million, which means if the Blackhawks retain half, he easily fits into the Leafs' cap structure. The question isn't whether or not Domi could be an asset to the Leafs. The question is, at what point do they pull the trigger on a deal and at what point do they walk away?
Reports out of Chicago are claiming that the Blackhawks are looking to get 1st round picks for both Domi and Andreas Athanasiou. However, another executive from outside of the organization is skeptical. According to this unnamed exec, the Blackhawks will be more likely to get a 3rd or 4th rounder for each player. Realistically, I think it's somewhere in between. I could see Domi, half retained, going to the Leafs for a second and a third, or a second and a mid level prospect. If that is indeed the price Dubas ends up paying for Domi, I'd consider it a very strong deadline addition. Lock Dubas up for burglary if they end up getting Domi for a 3rd or 4th rounder.
