The Leafs lost Timothy Liljegren last night due to a reported hand injury. The length of time he will miss is not yet known as he has not been re-evaluated yet. However, the Leafs also got some good news as they were able to activate another of their injured blueliners off of the IR.

The Leafs activated Jordie Benn from Injured Reserve meaning he will be the one slotting into Liljegren's spot on Saturday night when the Leafs take on the Capitals and hope to prevent Alexander Ovechkin from tying and passing Gordie Howe on the all-time goals list.

Benn has played just six games for the Leafs so far this season as he missed all of October with a groin injury before returning in November. He was injured again against the New Jersey Devils and has been recovering since.
