Even at 34 years old, Perron continues to be a model of consistency and a thorn in the side of opponents. While he produced points for the Blues in the playoffs, he was also an instigating factor in both series they played. Often involved in post whistle scrums and some questionable plays like the flying elbow attempt at Kadri and the cross check on him, he managed to walk the line very carefully. He is coming off of a 4-year, $16M deal and will likely take a shorter term deal at similar value.
As cap crunched as the Leafs are right now, he would've been a perfect fit in their top 6, giving the second line a winger with an edge and skill to match. Unfortunately, it appears he wants to stay in St Louis and the Blues want him back. Perron has also spent time with the Oilers, Golden Knights and Penguins during his career, but every contract he has signed he has signed with St Louis, so this contract should be no exception.
