The New York Rangers have officially re-signed their second overall pick from the 2019 draft, Kappo Kakko, to a multi-year deal on Thursday. According to the Rangers' official Twitter announcement, the pact is for two-years at $2.1 million per.

Kakko only played in 43 games this season, picking up seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. He was injured for a good chunk of the 21-22 season, so he'll be looking to rebound in a big way on his "prove it" contract over the next two seasons.

The 21-year-old has only played in 157 career NHL games and has 58 points. With Kakko signed, the Rangers have around $1.8 million left in cap space and only 20/23 players signed through next season. It seems likely that we'll see a move here at some point fairly soon as the Rangers will look to complete their roster.
