The Buffalo Sabres' new $11M defenseman, Rasmus Dahlin, has a bit of an edge to his game. I know, this isn't exactly a news flash, but on Thursday night, Dahlin delivered one of the cleanest hip-checks you'll ever see in the first period of their home opener against the New York Rangers, sending Filip Chytil flying ass over tea kettle.
You don't normally see the old-school hip-check delivered in today's game, but as Chytil was traversing the neutral zone and trying to dangle his way past Dahlin just at the inside of the Sabres' blueline, the Swedish defenseman finished him off in style.
Chytil may have wound up on Dahlin's already impressive highlight reel, but the Rangers did get the last laugh - at least through the first 20 minutes - entering the intermission with a 2-0 lead over the Sabres.
