The Leafs have dealt with an abundance of injury issues this season and the latest victim appears to be defenseman Rasmus Sandin, who left tonight's game early in the second period after suffering what is being reported as a neck injury.
It is unclear when the injury happened, but his last shift resulted in an Auston Matthews goal. Following that, he missed his next shift and headed to the room and did not return to the game.
The Leafs will likely provide a minimal update after the game and a more informative update in the next day or two, once Sandin has had the opportunity to meet with the team's medical staff for further evaluation.
Thankfully for the Leafs, Jordie Benn has been practicing with the team and appears ready for a return whenever the team needs him.
