As troubling as the start of the season was for the Toronto Maple Leafs, it pales in comparison to how poorly the Vancouver Canucks' start was. Now, it would appear as though the team's captain and one of the most vital pieces of their core, Bo Horvat, may actually want out.

According to TSN's Craig Button, this could be the beginning of the end of Horvat's time as Canucks captain, as the 27-year-old, who is slated to become a UFA this summer, may finally want out.

Horvat is currently tied with teammate Elias Pettersson for the team lead in points with 20. He also happens to be the team's leading goal scorer with 14 goals and is just 1 goal back of Connor McDavid, who leads the league in goals with 15 on the season.

In terms of what the Canucks might be able to get for their captain, that's a tricky one. As a pending UFA, he has the ability to sign anywhere he wants during the summer, so if a team is giving up quality assets for him, they're probably going to want some assurances that he's going to sign an extension. The other option is to have the Canucks sign Horvat to an extension and trade him to a preferred destination, much like what the Flames did with Matthew Tkachuk in the Jonathan Huberdeau/MacKenzie Weegar deal, to increase the quality of the return.
