Since before the season even began, the Leafs have been hard at work to try to find a taker on veteran forward Wayne Simmonds, but to no avail. The Leafs had even gone so far as to say that the return in the trade wasn't nearly as important as finding the right situation for the Wayne Train. In other words, they were basically giving him away to a contender.

Well, one of the teams who may have some interest, according to Real Kyper and Bourne's Nick Kypreos, is the Ottawa Senators. If Kypreos is being truthful here, the obvious link there is Claude Giroux, who may have put in a good word for the 1,017-game NHL veteran, who played a long time with Giroux in Philly.

So far, no true insiders have linked Simmonds to Ottawa, but perhaps it's because talks never really got off the ground. One of the reasons for that could be that the Sens are not viewed as a contending team. If Simmonds does leave Toronto, he'll want a chance to pursue a Stanley Cup with his new team.
