Report confirms that Zdeno Chara declined the NHL's invite to the All-Star Game
With the All-Star break looming, an interesting bit of news had popped up regarding veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara, who had been invited to All-Star weekend, but has decided to pass on the opportunity.
Chara, who could have participated in his 7th career NHL All-Star festivities in Las Vegas next weekend, was apparently a late invitee with the NHL hoping that he would be an ambassador for the league and take part in the hardest shot competition.
Chara has taken part in the event numerous times in his career and owns the NHL record for the hardest shot recorded on All-Star Weekend with a 108.8 mph shot in 2012.
