During a game on October 21st, Leafs prospect Nick Robertson was hit up high in the 2nd period and was very slow to get up. When he did, he went straight down the tunnel and to the Marlies locker room. Many had feared the worst.

Robertson's injury history is well-noted, but thankfully, the 22-year-old returned to the game and saw it through. He was back in action yesterday evening and ripped home a beautiful one-timer on the power play in the 3rd period against the Charlotte Checkers, putting the Marlies up by 1 late in the third.

Joseph Blandisi would add an insurance marker to secure a 4-2 win with less than a minute to go, but it was Robertson's tally that ended up being the game-winner.

Robertson is now up to 6 points (3G, 3A) in 4 games with the Marlies and should be considered the frontrunner for a call-up if the injury bug were to bite the Leafs. Yes, Pontus Holmberg received the first call up, but I believe that had more to do with the Leafs knowing that his invite up to the big club was expected to be very short-term.

If Robertson can remain healthy all year, I sincerely do like his chances of breaking out in 2023-24. He has all the tools, but his health has not been good in recent years and has almost certainly gotten in the way of his development and has prevented him from finding his groove at the NHL level.
