For a kid that grew up in Pasadena, California you would have thought his favourite player would've been someone closer to home, but for Nick Robertson, that wasn't the case. Growing up, Robertson had "everything you can imagine" involving the Pittsburgh Penguins and his favourite player, Sidney Crosby.

"I was a big Pittsburgh fan and a big Crosby fan," said Roberson following this morning's game-day skate. The Leafs and Robertson are welcoming Crosby and the Pens to Scotiabank Arena on a rare Friday night game to kick of Hall of Fame weekend.

"I remember him calling for the puck a lot. So, I incorporated that into my game when I was younger and people used to say I called for the puck too much."

-Robertson on something from Crosby's game that he's adopted into his own

Robertson finds himself alongside William Nylander and John Tavares again tonight after drawing back into the lineup Sunday against Carolina. He has 5 points in 8 games so far this season and has seen his ice time split between playing a top-six and bottom-six role. Robertson doesn't need to put up buckets of points to remain in the top-six, but he does have to do all the little things right to hold his place - though some production on the scoresheet wouldn't hurt his case either.

Not that he doesn't normally have it, but there will be some extra pep in his step tonight if/when he lines up against Crosby's line.
