With the announcement that Auston Matthews is out for tonight's game against Nashville in what Sheldon Keefe is calling a day-to-day situation, a roster spot has opened up, much to the delight of 26-year-old rookie forward Bobby McMann, who was recently called up by the Marlies and will make his NHL debut on Wednesday.

McMann was called up yesterday due to Matthews' situation after being named AHL Player of the Week with 3 goals and 6 points this past week. On the season, McMann has 8 goals and 15 points in 17 games for the Marlies.

The AHL standout was recently praised by Marlies captain, Logan Shaw, who stated that McMann has all of the tools to be a successful NHL player. As for where he'll play in the lineup, McMann was slotted in next to Alexander Kerfoot and David Kampf yesterday during practice. No confirmation yet on where he'll slot in.

McMann set the Marlies rookie scoring record last season, notching 24 goals in his first full AHL season. He'll look to make an impact for the Buds in his first look with the big club against a red hot Nashville team who has won their last 4 games and 7 of their last 10.
