Per a report from a popular Flyers fan account on Twitter, Hart has removed all affiliation with the Flyers from his Instagram account and has switched his account to private. Obviously, this is a very peculiar turn of events with training camp just a week away and with Hart being under contract with the Flyers.
Is it possible that Hart knows of an incoming trade that he'll be involved in? He was involved in a number of trade rumours earlier this summer, so perhaps that's it. Still, if that's the case, why have no insiders reported that a deal was close, as we often see? Could this be related to something else?
Deputy commissioner Bill Daly recently revealed that the investigation by London police is coming to a close fairly imminently. There have also been reports that have surfaced suggesting that the names of the players involved are known, but have not been reported on publicly because media outlets are awaiting the results of the investigation being announced.
Hart was a part of the 2018 Canadian World Junior Championship team that was under investigation stemming from an incident that had occurred back in 2018 in London, Ontario, involving a young woman who had claimed that a number of players on the team assaulted her at a London hotel.
Hart had originally released a statement that he had no involvement in the incident, so it's really anyone's guess as to what the reason is for the odd social media activity if not in relation to the pending announcement of the results of the investigation. Perhaps he received word that the results will be announced here shortly and he just wants to avoid the media circus and focus on hockey.
Whatever the reason, I'm sure we'll find out shortly.
