Ryan Hartman does what I'm sure just about every NHLer would like to do to Evander Kane

On Tuesday night, Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman got into it with Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane and did something that will very likely earn him a fine from the NHL's Department of Player Safety, but it will probably have been money well spent.

During a post-whistle altercation with Kane that was broken up by the officials, Hartman channeled his inner Stone Cold Steve Austin and gave Kane the finger.

Obviously, it's unsportsmanlike conduct. I don't think there's any way around that one. That said, I'm sure Hartman would have been just as likely to take out his frustrations on Kane in a different and more violent manner had the officials let them go.

For how simple a gesture as it is, I'm truly surprised we don't see it happen more often. I get it though. NHL games are family events. These guys have to be better role models than that. Had Hartman simply punched Kane repeatedly in the face, everything would have been fine.

I love this sport.
