The Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Rangers series started out with a bang after New York's Ryan Lindgren absolutely flatlined Pittsburgh's Rickard Rakell at the end of the first period. You can see the hit below:

Originally, the officials had issued a 5-minute major to Lindgren on the play, but after a short review, it was decided that the penalty would be reduced to just a 2-minute minor. I'd be shocked if the Department of Player Safety didn't offer Lindgren a hearing for this one.

Rakell certainly had his bell rung on the play. He attempted to get up, but could not seem to get his wits about him and needed to be helped off the ice by teammates Sidney Crosby and Mike Matheson. I'd be surprised if we see him again this series.

Tough break for the Pens, who gave up a pretty penny for Rakell at the trade deadline.
